Louis Vuitton Launches Home Collection During Milan Design Week

Louis Vuitton swung wider the opening to aspiring lifestyles and then recommenced during Milan Design Week with eagerness in presenting a home collection.

Because of the launch of the Home Collection, Louis Vuitton states it has entered a new chapter in its long history: "a complete world dedicated to the art of living"—5 categories: furniture and lighting, decoration, signifiers, textiles, tableware, gaming pieces, and Objets Nomades, which the house invites designers to explore experimental functional furniture pieces and design objects.

The homeware and furniture line is a direct descendant of the historic creations of the house, balancing imagination with utility, as the fashion brand states. This goes together with Louis Vuitton's homage to Fortunato Depero, the grand Italian graphic artist, for his futuristic textiles and tableware creations, and all the way to Charlotte Perriand, the legendary French architect-designer, with new textile collections inspired by archival designs.

Underpinning "contemporary aesthetic" and "refined design and creative sense," the Louis Vuitton Signature is the line at the head of the collection, introducing furniture and lighting. Among the expected are a modulated range of sofas and armchairs, sideboards, and tables.

Also featured in the collection was a design by French designer Patrick Jouin for an armchair clad in zippered leather and accented with a golden padlock like the brand's travel trunk. Cristián Mohaded brought more muted signals from Louis Vuitton, mixing signature stitching and graphics with details of trunk-making craftsmanship, while Italian designer Patricia Urquiola presented a warm curvilinear new armchair along with decorative objects. Another leather lamp is by Atelier Biagetti.

The center stage of the showcase was an area dedicated to "exceptional gaming," featuring a real pinball machine for Pharrell Williams's world as Louis Vuitton menswear creative director and for his show along with a table for chess lovers or mahjong players. Surrealist in its aquatic world inspiration, Estúdio Campana interprets a football table in a classic ambience.
