Marvel Rivals fans wanting to introduce the game's character ban feature, which exists in at least the Diamond rank, to the entire game actively interact with game developers. Only Diamond and higher ranks so far have character bans in matches of Marvel Rivals.
Literally, Marvel Rivals is the coolest thing to play these days. In spite of the level of competition due to lots of released hero shooters in 2024, NetEase Games, which is pro a game about Marvel superheroes and villains fighting each other in a competitive context, did the impossible. The surprising twist of the game was its huge selection of characters as well as its colorful art, which drew it to fans who usually look for the antithesis of games that have the kind of realism in them like Marvel's Avengers and Marvel's Spider-Man. Meanwhile, the game has begun to solidify itself as a playground for players of remarkable skills. Good, well-coordinated plays further make it into a new MMO platform.
On the downside, the process for a perfect game might still require improvement to meet the demands for the satisfaction of Marvel Rival fans who want to enjoy every bit of the game's competitive ranked play modes. A player using the name Expert_Recover_7050 on Reddit wrote a statement demanding Marvel Rivals Hero Ban be made a general system at all ranks. The idea of hero or character bans in games like Marvel Rivals is to let the teams vote on getting rid of someone from their opponents, causing them to have a difficult time fighting a nerfed team or a too powerful one.
Expert_Recover_7050 was blowing off steam on his post showing the team comp of some of the best Marvel Rivals characters: Bruce Banner/Hulk, Hawkeye, Hela, Iron Man, Mantis, and Luna Snow. They said that such a team is not very common in the Platinum ranks and thus is truly overwhelming, causing frustration when continuously meeting. Unfortunately, with Hero Bans only available to players at Diamond rank, only Expert_Recover_7050 is having a good time, while lower-ranked players are being forced to destroy teams composed of "god-like" heroes with no given means of dealing with it, said the user.
The complaint initiated the fans of Marvel Rivals, who had very interactive discussions on the subreddit that was split between the supporters and those who were against it. Some players questioned the fairness and relevance of the complaint, saying that the "overpowered" team shown by Expert_Recover_7050 actually didn't need to be mentioned and that the acquisition of the necessary skills for beating it is a normal "journey" for the top-rated Marvel Rivals players. On the other hand, there were still some who found it better to let the hero bans be available to a bigger number of individuals, as they contended that it was not one of the main concepts the game had. A balanced game should not have such a system.
Along with the calling for hero bans to be started from small ranks onwards, an argument prevailed that the game is far from perfect. Then again, there is still enough time and raw materials for tapping into community demands to make the game better.
