With Season 3 set, the big update you've all been looking forward to is going to come on August 21. This would be the second time this year you get to see an update in Last Epoch for a new season, after warmly welcoming Season 2 back in April.
Developed by Eleventh Hour Games, a U.S. indie team, Last Epoch made a big splash on the PC side with a big Steam launch in February 2024. This launch was a big move, ending its long beta time at its zenith with 264,000+ players simultaneously. Since then, the developers released Update 1.1 and Season 2, which did wonders for increasing the game's recognition on Steam, where it carries a "Mostly Positive" aggregate from over 99,000 players. Following the great reception of the latest season update with activities for new endgame content, improved crafting, and much more, the team is now ready to finally push out Season 3.
According to Last Epoch, Season 3 Update will launch on August 21, more than four months after the last season's set of updates. It's called "Beneath Ancient Skies," and judging by the teaser, it looks like dinosaurs. The video showed a goat-like hunter with a bow and arrow meeting something in the woods that looked a lot like a dinosaur. Fans took to Reddit to talk about this news. They expressed joy in how quickly Season 3 came about after Season 2. Many were also up for the idea of a season that seemed to channel Jurassic Park.
The fan discussions about Last Epoch's third season have been fairly positive. This is a good sign for Eleventh Hour Games, since they want to replicate or exceed what they managed in Season 2. Previously, their Tombs of the Erased update drew a ton of Steam users and pushed the game's concurrent player count from under 5,000 to over 150,000. The number is down again now to under 15,000, but the devs are hoping that will rise once more in a few months when Season 3 drops.
If you haven't tried Eleventh Hour Games's well-liked fantasy world yet, now's a good chance. Last Epoch's price has dropped to $27.99 on Steam until July 10.
